There has been no weight change unfortunately since my drop to 275, in fact last week I gained a pound and lost it right back this week. However, I was seriously encouraged by my results as it pertains to measurements this week. Last week (which I did not post results on) was a bad week. I didn’t work out at all due a busy work schedule. I had some definite lapses in my nutrition due to stress and poor scheduling. So, I needed to come back in a big week this week.
However, this week was wrought with huge challenges. My work place had a significant project thrust upon us and I had to definitely rally my team and work closely with other department heads for us to recover. This was he perfect week to crawl into a bucket of fries and a 12 pack of pumpkin ale. However, I did not do that. I did not resort to drive throughs. I did not sneak Halloween candy. To be fair, I did have a cookie, but a co-worker who knows I’m on a program literally slapped my hand for it. In other words, I pushed through a tough week. I’m back to 275, and I had some really nice drops in measurements.
Weight: 275 lbs – no change
Waist: 49.75 – Down .75 inches
Hips: 44.75 – Down .25 inches
Legs: 26.75 – Down 1 inch
Bicep: 16.75 – Down .25 inches
Neck: 17 – no change
Chest: 49 – no change
So, I dropped below the 50’s as I call them for the first time across the board. I hope to stay there. Big Big couple of weeks ahead before the holidays hit. I’m stoked about my plan and I’m excited about the future.d
Hey there, I know I don’t do daily boot camp updates anymore, because I rarely have the five minutes of downtime to blast out a post. However, I have some time today, so I thought we’d discuss multiple joint exercises. A multiple joint exercise is exactly what it sounds like. You work multiple joints as opposed to isolating one specific area. For example, a bicep curl is an isolated exercise focusing mainly one large joint, the eblow. Yes, you can argue the wrist, but that’s considered a small joint with minmal musculature attached. A multiple ‘large’ joint exercise would be a Clean and Jerk for example, in which you engage every major join on your body: knees, hips, elbows, shoulders. Today we did a few of these things for boot camp and we also would incorpate several twisting motions with our abs into the mix. We also threw in a fun assortment of twisting planks and the like into the mix as well. We finished this with two different stair climbs up the ‘clown stairs’. The first required every other step up the steps and then a standard climb. So, all in all, this was some super rough stuff.
I did have a personal moment of triumph though with the stairs. Rarely, do I do more than one run up the stairs, and not only did I do one, but I did two. That’s pretty good for me. Because it’s hard for 275lbs to move up stairs.
This week was a fairly solid week on Slow-Carb. As you know, I’ve become less of a Slow-Carb Nazi over the past few weeks. Just go listen to Cheat Day Podcast. If I have a piece of bread one day, I don’t freak out. If I have two in one day, I need to take a look in the mirror. I decided for the sake of fun to go a bit more strict though this week and bask in the glory of how I felt truly living a Slow-Carb Life. The reality is I physically felt much better. However, I get so bored with the food by Thursday, it becomes a real focusing issue. I’m learning now to cope with this point where I get so bored with food late in the week. However, This was a productive week with more inches lost, more weight lost.
- Height: 5’10″ (this is only still here because I cut and paste)
Weight 275 (down 1 lb)
Chest 49″ (down 1″)
Waist 50.5″ (down .5″)
Hips 45″ (up .5″)
Biceps 17 ″ (no change)
Thighs 27.75″ (up .75″)
Neck 17″ (no change)
A mildly productive week, but that is still good. I only went to boot camp twice this week as my foot is now 100%, I think I can start running again. Don’t get me wrong, I celebrated my weigh in with a good old fashioned Spartan Training Session with the guys right after. But the reality is that I’m losing a little more weight, and I’m feeling good. I feel like I could live this way forever, because I am living this way.
But here is my new BATTLE! The office I work at is now equipped with a Fucking Jack-O-Lantern FILLED with candy. FUCKING FILLED with Candy. And… check this shit out… when people empty it… it gets filled right back up again. It’s like Corey Ten Boom’s fucking Miraculous medicine bottle. Except this one is giving people diabetes. Ugg. This is the first mark of the holidays. I must be on my game going into the FALL, y’all.
Can I get an AMEN!?!
When you wake up and you think that you can’t start your journey, When you are half way through your walk, and you want to give up even though you have another 25 lbs to loose, When you binge on that bag of potato chips and say to yourself, “I have plenty of time to lose the weight.” I want you to look at this photo. I know I will. Even if you don’t have two legs and two arms, you can still be amazing.
I am so late, you guys, in posting my results, but rest assured I did take them. I was in a rush to get out to a session of Spartan Training with my Boot Camp Crew, so no chance to blog about the ups and downs on being on this whacky ride to fitness. I was to be honest a little freaked out about this week. I did get back into Boot Camp twice this past week, and hit it for number 3 the day of weigh in, but man, I was seriously breaking down on some carb issues. I don’t know what the deal was. I’ll share in a minute. Here are the results.
Height: 5’10″ (this is only still here because I cut and paste)
Weight 276 (no change)
Chest 50″ (down 1″)
Waist 51″ (down .5″)
Hips 44.5″ (down .5″)
Biceps 17 ″ (up.25″)
Thighs 27″ (down .75″)
Neck 17″ (no change)
So, reductions in 4 of the 7 categories that I measure. That’s good. No drop in weight, but measurements count. Yes, they do Fat Guy reading this to get inspired. They matter a lot. So, back to carbs. I was such a huge victim of white rice this week. I don’t know what it is about Japanese cuisine, but they just don’t allow you to be served a meal without putting white rice in front of you. I tried on two occasions to get my meal without rice. One lady told me flat out ‘No’, and at another joint they forgot and brought it anyway. I broke down. I ate some rice. But it didn’t kill me, and I didn’t go off on some sort of carb bender. I saved that for Cheat Day. All in all, it’s a steady week. Not remarkable, but I’m confident this week will be different. I’m scheduled for at least 3 sessions of working out and running before weigh in. I’m stoked about this week. I’m doing to drop below 275. I just know it.
I really have nothing but respect for Parkour athletes. I watch them and I am just completely amazed. I could never do this because even at peak condition, I’m built like a freight train and not like a monkey. I mean maybe I could throw these guys like lawn darts or something, but that’s about it for my level of participation. Check out this training routine. Just bonker-ville.
Today I returned with a left foot @ 95% and ready to get down and do some damage. To my joyous rapture the trainer through kick shields and punching mits on the driveway. OH, IT WAS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG! We did some ball busting drills that were really cool. Now of course, I was a bit limited as I’m resting the foot for one last day, but we did some punching and some striking and it was just awesome. This was the first class, where I was able to really see the advantage of all the long distance running I have been doing, because I did not get nearly as winded as I usually do. I was able to really pour it on for some of the drills and it felt really, really good. I did shave the the skin off my knuckle on my right hand, but that just makes you feel more like a MAN!
