So, one thing I never really have done with ANY regularity is properly document my diet, you know what I eat every day, especially while I’m on SLOW CARB. Well, I decided to go ahead and start, but the problem was I couldn’t figure out the most effective way to do it.
Sounds pretty simple, take picture, post on interwebs.
That’s true, but I wanted to try and be as efficient as possible. If I had to do too many things, then the reality is I wouldn’t do it at all. So, what was the best solution?
Well, I opened up a Tumblr at www.sparetireproject.tumblr.com and I am not utilizing my TUMBLR app (for the first time) to take a photo and post it on Tumblr. Now, why am I doing this? Isn’t taking pictures of your food for social media the punchline of a joke? Well, yes and no.
First, it creates accountability as I have to PUT OUT THERE what it is I ate. Frankly, I’m terrified to make a mistake at this point with the diet since I may actually have someone say, “Oh NICE ONE FATTY, how was that Cheeseburger!”, so it seems to be working.
Second, it is a MUCH easier way to TRACK the food you eat. Food tracking develops a consciousness around what it is you are eating so you make better choices. Any person giving you advice on ‘dieting’ would at the very least encourage you to use a pen and paper to track. I’ve used notebooks, iOS apps, Livestrong and even a big white board in the past, but nothing seems to stick. However, this is much easier and forces me to understand what I am doing food wise. So… I’m going to keep doing it.
